Madonna and Child...

Brian at Hot Air gives more details about Madonna's adoption of an African boy.

It seems that the boy's father, a devout Christian, was lied to by the adoption officials overseeing the transaction. He was told that Madonna and her husband were Christians themselves.

Snort...

If it were not for the fact that a little boy is going to be taken away from his father, who only placed him in the orphanage because his wife died and he needed a safe place for the boy to live while he worked away from home, my response to Madonna being called a Christian would be full fledged guffaws, followed by rolling on the floor, the clutching of sides due to cramps, gasping for air, and tears covering my laughter-distorted face.

But it IS about a little boy being taken away from his father, a father who so loved his son he would give him away for a REAL chance to live a better life. No story I've seen on this says the father stands to get any money from the transaction. He simply wants his son to live a life better than his own.

However, the hospital where the boy lives got 3 million dollars, and the government of Malawi has been promised another million for a documentary film on the orphans of the country. No mention is made of how much in other bribes was paid to get Malawi to amend their laws against foreigners adopting their children.

But the deal is not without strings - you guessed it - Madonna had her celebrity "requirements" before she would agree to this gig. According to the Hot Air article, Madonna  "reportedly forced the school to start teaching kabbala, Madonna’s fashionable mystical hocus-pocus religion, for which she abandoned a very, very lapsed Catholic faith." (No word on whether the kids got Evian water in their hovels.)

Even the way she chose the boy reeks to high heaven. Madonna reportedly asked for e-mail pictures of a dozen kids and chose the boy because he was "beautiful". One has to wonder just what's going on EBAY these days...

You buy "Greatest Hits" albums this way; you buy Franklin Mint figurines this way; you buy cheese sandwiches with religious icons' faces on them this way - YOU DON'T BUY CHILDREN THIS WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a father of three, so this hits me hard. I'm not a wealthy man by any stretch of the imagination. But I'm really tempted to offer to adopt the boy myself, just to keep him out of the hands of ... that woman.
